LAND FES advocates a new way of appreciating art. It has performed in various locations around Tokyo including Kichijoji, Koenji, and Sengawa since 2011, and has held dance and music workshops for people with disabilities since 2014. This production is a one-on-one contest between dancers and musicians selected by LAND FES. It offers a powerful lineup.
Mitsuichi Omae dances without his prosthetic leg. Arisa Yokote creates a unique world with song, poetry, and voice. Kenta Kanbara dances on the wheels of his wheelchair. Takashi Ueno is an easy-going guitarist. Takeo Niikura, who has Down syndrome, uses a wide range of musical instruments, such as the marimba. Kazutoki Umezu is an anarchic jazz saxophonist. Kazuyo Morita, who has spina bifida and scoliosis, is active as a dancer, actor, and director. Terao Saho is a singer-pianist who often collaborates with dancers. Ryotaro Yahagi, who has Down’s syndrome, is an improvisational dancer who responds to the surrounding environment, while Koichi Makigami is a vocal magician adept at Tuvah khoomei throat singing. Dakei, a deaf dancer who has appeared in film and other media, performs with Keiji Haino, an internationally acclaimed singer-songwriter. Just being able to see these talented performers together in a single video, where they fully demonstrate their individual talents, is an invaluable experience in itself.
